If the signature is in monospace font (we cannot change it at the moment), that would allow for more consistent signatures, since it's mostly used in terminal applications with monospace fonts. Also, it would allow for good ascii art in the signature section for those interested. Also art doesn't really work in chat, since newline isn't working right for some reason.
For example:
